Fantastic Four was directed by Tim Story and released by 20th Century Fox. This is the second live-action Fantastic Four movie to be filmed. The previous attempt produced by Roger Corman was never officially released.

The film was released in the United States on July 8, 2005. It was the third superhero film of the year, after Elektra and Batman Begins.

The cast included Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm/Thing. The cast reunited for the sequel titled Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which was released on June 15, 2007.
