Characters
- Agent Zero
He was originally known as Maverick, and more recently as Agent Zero. North first appeared in X-Men (vol. 2) #5 and was created by Jim Lee. Fueled by the betrayal, Sgt. Nord became one of the most efficient covert operatives in Germany. In the 1960s, his exploits caught the attention of the CIA, who offered him a spot in the clandestine Team X. He agreed, and at this time, changed his name to David North. As a part of Team X, he was one of several mutant operatives the government experimented on and utilized. Each member unknowingly received false memory implants, and North received an aging suppressant culled from Logan's mutant healing factor. North's immediate team consisted of three field agents: North, Logan and Victor Creed. The mutant teleporter John Wraith, also referred to as Kestrel, served as the team's intelligence man and extractor. It was at this time that North began wearing his signature yellow and black faceplate. On a mission in East Germany, both Creed and Logan were badly injured. Rather than follow protocol and leave them, North dragged them to the extraction point. Cornered by Andreas Nord, now an assassin, North saved his teammates the only way he could; killing his own brother in cold blood. Because of this incident, Logan holds North in very high regard.
- Bolt/Christopher Bradley
Chris was an ordinary teenager until the day he started absorbing electricity from his surroundings into his body, causing his hands to spark. He was then contacted by the X-Men, who taught Chris how to control his powers, so that he could live a normal life. Played by Dominic Monaghan, it was first reported that Monaghan would play Barnell Bohusk (Beak) in the movie, but later revealed was going to play Bolt with the name change of Bradley Bolt. The character first appeared in X-Men Unlimited #8 and was created by writer Howard Mackie along with artists Tom Grummett and Dan Lawlis. - Blob/Frederick J. Dukes
The Blob was created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-writer Jack Kirby, appearing first in X-Men #3 (January 1964). A mutant, the Blob claims to be unmovable. He possesses an extreme amount of pliable body mass, which grants him superhuman strength and his own gravitational pull. Possessing the mindset of a bully, he mostly uses his powers for petty crime and as a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants.
- Deadpool/Wade Winston Wilson
He was created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza, appearing first in the New Mutants #98 (February 1991). Nicknamed the "Merc with a Mouth", Deadpool is a high-tech mercenary known for his wisecracks. Like the X-Men's Wolverine, Deadpool is the product of the Canadian government's paramilitary Weapon X program, although his place of birth is unknown. After Weapon X cured his terminal cancer by implementing a regenerative "healing factor" extracted from Wolverine, Deadpool is left disfigured and mentally unstable.
- Gambit/Remy LeBeau
Created by writer Chris Claremont and artists Jim Lee and Mike Collins, the character first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #266 (August 1990). Gambit possesses the ability to manipulate kinetic energy. He is also skilled in card throwing, hand-to-hand combat, and the use of a staff. As the X-Men's self-described ladies man, Gambit has shown a more vulnerable side of himself over the years, especially when it comes to Rogue. Gambit remains fiercely proud of his Louisiana heritage, and speaks in a very thick, Cajun accent.
- Jason Stryker
William Stryker's son, Jason (portrayed by Michael Reid McKay) is loosely based on Mastermind. In this interpretation, he was once a student of Xavier's whose father wanted him to be "cured". Because Xavier was unable to do this, Jason used his powers to take revenge on his parents, driving his mother to suicide. Stryker subsequently had him lobotomized so he would only obey his orders, and used him in his plan to eliminate the mutant race. Jason appears as a crippled, wheelchair bound man, with atrophied muscle, a flaccid face and watery eyes. The lobotomy deprived him of free will and left him paralyzed, but his psychic powers are strong enough to control even a great mentalist like Professor X. Under his father's orders, he tricks Xavier into using a modified copy of Cerebro to find all mutants and send telepathic screams that could kill them. He has a key feature of different eye colors.
- Kestrel/John Wraith
He was part of Team X along with Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, Mastodon, and Silver Fox. Wraith was a powerful teleporter, capable of getting the team out of sticky situations after their job was finished. He had a penchant for explosives, arming himself with shaped charges. Like the other members of Team X, he was given an artificial age suppressant so he was likely much older than he looked. His time as a secret agent and a member of the Weapon X program has left John somewhat paranoid.
- Sabretooth/Victor Creed
Sabretooth is a mutant who possesses bestial superhuman physical abilities, most notably a rapid healing factor, razor-sharp fangs and claws, and hyper senses. He was also part of the Weapon X program alongside Wolverine.
- Silver Fox
Silver Fox is a lover of Wolverine who first appeared in Wolverine (Vol. 2) #10, where she is raped and apparently killed by Sabretooth. She is later revealed to be alive and a member of Team X, the best covert ops team the CIA had to offer, and is one of a few female victims of the Weapon X project. According to most accounts, Silver Fox lived with Wolverine in Canada at the dawn of the 20th century. She, a Native Canadian Blackfoot, and he, a frontiersman, enjoyed many happy times together. Sabretooth killed her on Logan's birthday, ostensibly when she rejected his advances.
- Storm/Ororo Munroe
The character first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975) and was created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum. Best known as a leader of the X-Men, Storm is currently the reigning queen of Wakanda, a title held by marriage to King T'Challa, better known as the Black Panther. Storm is one of the most frequently used X-Men, having appeared in most of the comic books, all of animated television series, nearly all of the video games and the live action 20th Century Fox X-Men film series.Note: The scene featuring Storm was edited from the final cut of the film, but the deleted scene was included with the DVD release.
- William Stryker
In X-Men 2, Stryker is a military activist who is connected with Wolverine through Weapon X. At the end of X-Men 2: X-Men United, Wolverine leaves Stryker to die. In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is set seventeen years before the first X-Men film, Stryker will have a key role with Weapon X.
- Wolverine/Logan
A mutant, Wolverine possesses animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, and a healing factor that allows him to recover from virtually any wound. This healing ability enabled the supersoldier program Weapon X to bond the near indestructible metal alloy adamantium to his skeletal system . He is also a master of hand-to-hand combat and martial arts.
