In March 2010, Hugo Weaving was cast as the Red Skull and Chris Evans landed the title role as Captain America. The announcement of Evans came after weeks of screen tests and numerous contenders passing on the role including John Krasinski, Ryan Phillippe, and Channing Tatum. Soon after, Sebastian Stan was cast as Captain America's sidekick, Bucky Barnes.
