HISTORY
On January 11, 2010, Sony Pictures announced an official reboot of the Spider-Man franchise with a new cast and new crew. After director Sam Raimi and Sony couldn't pan out the fourth film's hold-up, Raimi decided to leave the franchise and Sony decided to start over.

On January 20th, director Marc Webb was officially signed to direct the new set of films. The reboot will apparently be based off of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series, which was written by Brian Michael Bendis with artwork by Mark Bagley. In February 2010, Sony Pictures revealed a July 3, 2012 release date for the reboot.

On July 1st, Sony Pictures officially announced the casting of Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
