In the early 1990s, a Deathlok film was at the script stage, with screenwriter Randall Frakes. In 2007, the film was once again in the scripting stages. Screenwriter David Self was set to adapt the screenplay for Paramount Pictures.

When Paramount first announced this project, it appeared they were hoping to fast track it for a 2004 release. Marvel then changed the release date to 2005, then 2006, then TBD.
